Hi!!!
I’m Madeline! I know I should to do a proper introduction of myself, but I just have to say this first and foremost. The day I moved to New York City I was 22, it was rainy, I had 6 suitcases of clothes, I had no job and got some weird apartment with two of my best friends on the upper west side. I had not a clue about life but what I did know was about fashion and what this new life in new york city could be. At the time I had no idea moving to New York would be the greatest decision of my life. Once I finally landed a job I would sit at my boring old corporate fashion desk job and I would open google docs (so it looked like I was answering emails) (I was in fact not) and I would write and write and write about anything and everything that was on my mind. What I was wearing, what I wish I had been wearing, what the new trends were, about my fur coat collection, when I called myself the dupe queen (not even kidding I think pioneered that one) “the cheap fashion story” “(Dirty) Little Secret (Shopper)” ”Over dressed? “Under dressed? Between dressed?” just to name a few titles of my stories. Was I ok? or was I revolutionary. Probably neither. Anyways I went on and on about nonsense fashion, it gave me this glimmer of inspiration, of hopes and dreams of my life could look like in New York.
Fast Forward, now almost 6 years later I am still writing the same day dreams down and same nonsense fashion ideas down but now I have a goal and dream of what I want achieve and accomplish. I now have this deep deep burning desire and ambition for success. I see the vision when I close my eyes and picture what my life WILL look like, if only I stay the path.
So full circle (well I think actually like an 1/8th because we are not quite there yet) but 1/8th circle here we are and I am going to start writing these substack’s to document my journey as a freelance stylist and dress designer in new york city. OK and back to the start we go.
My name is Madeline Marie Manning, I am from Texas and moved to New York City almost 6 years ago to begin my fashion career. I went from corporate fashion to a freelancer. We can skip the middle part of my career and maybe pick it up on another diary entry. So now today, October 30th 2024 and I am about to launch one of the biggest collection Madeline Marie has ever had.
If you look you will see one of first samples, the Roxanne Mini dress. Named after a woman that taught me to be independent, strong, loving, caring, generous and a tough son of a b*tch. (her words not mine). She is another diary entry on her own. I shot this mini collection of samples on a disposable camera on the perfectly crisp 70 degree day in the east village. And on Friday I will be shooting my entire brand new Holiday Collection in studio with a fancy model & photographer.
This dress represents the start of a new era for Madeline Marie Dresses.
